A Letter to My Son

Mauro Ponti

I wish I could help you avoid the pain of learning, but I know it would deprive you of the pleasure of learning. I wish I could help you avoid the pain of your first breakup and it’s frustrations, but it would deprive you of the maturity and suffering it brings. I wish I could help you avoid the painful obstacles that arise in life, but it would deprive you of the pride of overcoming them. Therefore discovering your power within.

If you could see yourself through my eyes. You would understand that the love for a child is greater than existence itself. When you fall, I will be there to lift you up. When you have no hope. I will be there to remind you that everything happens for a reason. When you think that “you already know everything in life”.  I will remind you the value of the word humility. When I am no longer in  this world. I will promise to still be there by your side in all the teachings and examples. That I plan to leave behind for you.

With you always, I love you my son.
